Five custom homes by Honest Abe Log Homes will be open to visitors at three locations on June 15 in the Rutherford County, Tennessee, area during the Honest Abe Log Homes Summer 2019 Tour, hosted by Murfreesboro Honest Abe Log Homes.
Each of the homes was designed and manufactured by Honest Abe Log Homes and reflect a variety of log styles. They will offer visitors a chance to see homes from the size of a small custom cabin to a home in progress a large family home.
One of the homes was built in 1980, so guests may talk to the homeowners about log home living over the years. This 1,680-square-foot, 6″ x 10″ Original Chinked features a truss roof, a large front porch and a reclaimed stone fireplace.
Also at that location the homeowners’ son and daughter-in-law are constructing their own Honest Abe Log Home, and the job site will be open for touring. The 3,050-square-foot, 6″ x 10″ Original Chinked log house features a heavy-timber roof, a half-wrap porch and exposed ceiling beams. Both these homes are located in the Christiana community.
Honest Abe’s Oakbrook plan was modified to create a two-story d-log home with a full basement and heavy-timber roof system near the Alexandria community. The homeowners acted as their own general contractors, living in a camper until their home was complete in 2015.
Visit a large dovetailed, chinked, square hand-hewn log house built in 2016-17 and a smaller log cabin at one beautiful location near Murfreesboro. Click here to see photos, review the floor plan, watch a construction video and read a story about the project.
