Ingredients:
- 4 cans Pillsbury Crescent Dough Sheets (or crescent rolls)
- Nutella (enough to spread between the layers)
- 1 egg
- About 1 tablespoon water (for mixing with the egg)
- 1-2 tablespoons Powdered Sugar (for the top)
Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Line a round baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Dough:
- Roll out one can of crescent dough onto the parchment paper.
- Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough, and then use a 9-inch cake pan as a guide to cut out a circle.
- Spread about 1-2 tablespoons of Nutella evenly onto the circle.
- Repeat this process with the remaining 3 cans of crescent roll, stacking the circles on top of each other.
3. Cutting and Twisting:
- Place a cup (a 2″ round cup works well) in the center of the dough.
- Use a knife to cut the dough into 16 wedges, ensuring they are of similar size.
- Take two adjacent wedges and twist them together three times. Pinch the edges together at the end to form a point.
- Repeat this twisting process with the remaining sections.
4. Prepare Egg Wash:
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg with about 1 tablespoon of water.
- Brush the egg wash evenly over the top of the twisted dough using a silicone brush.
5. Baking:
- Bake the star bread in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the bread is cooked throughout.
6. Cooling and Serving:
- Allow the star bread to cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Dust the top with powdered sugar.
- Slice and serve the delicious Nutella Star Bread.
