SEOPA’s Best Outdoors Book Award
The Lodge© Book of Dutch Oven Cooking earned The Best Outdoor Book Award from the Southeastern Press Associated (SEOPA) during the organization’s 2017 annual meeting held October 18-20 at Kentucky Dam Village in Gilbertsville, KY.
Written by J. Wayne Fears, The Lodge Dutch Oven Cookbook provides detailed information on Lodge Cast Iron Camp Dutch Ovens, use and care, campfire safety, cooking techniques, recipes and more. SEOPA is the nation’s premier regional outdoor communicator’s organization.
A highly regarded author, Fears is surprised his latest work earned top honors in the contest. “ I’m pleased with the fact that a cast iron cookbook took first place in a competition with hunting, fishing and camping books,” says Fears. “It shows the popularity of Lodge Cast Iron and outdoor cooking.”
Released in February 2017 by Skyhorse Publishing©, the book is available at outdoor stores, hardware stores, Lodge Cast Iron’s website, www.lodgemfg.com, bookstores and other on-line sites.
Fears has a graduate degree in outdoor recreation from the University of Georgia and has written five books and over 3,000 magazine stories on the subject. He is a member of the Explorers Clubs and was elected to the Legends on the Outdoors National Hall of Fame. Fears resides in north Alabama.
Founded in 1896 by Joseph Lodge, Lodge Cast Iron is the oldest family-owned cookware company in the U.S., and it is the oldest continuously operating domestic producer of cast iron cookware.
