Jerry and Bobbie Sue Heppler chose the Eagledale plan for their new home near Gallatin, Tennessee. The couple shared their design decisions and a little about their experience.
It has always been a dream of ours to have a log home. Before we started we knew what we wanted. The decisions were pretty easy, therefore we wound up with exactly what we imagined.
The Plan
We wanted a home with a cathedral ceiling and a loft. We liked the Honest Abe Eagledale plan, and we added a 16×20 bedroom to the back of the home. We took the laundry room and half bath and made a full bathroom which gave us two full bathrooms. We also decided to bring the foundation to the outside of the porch and deck so we wouldn’t have to maintain under each of them.
The Design
Our home has a total of 1,850 square feet. The corners are dovetailed, and the 8×12 eastern pine logs are Genesis, which are flat on both sides. Our home is located in the country. We have neighbors nearby, which is a plus. Also, we are only two miles from Gallatin, where there is anything you could possibly need.
The Build
Thanks to our contractor Ronnie Carter, from Lafayette, Tennessee. We cannot say enough about him. This man has put log cabins together for years, and he knows what he’s doing and does a fantastic job.
Honest Abe
Inez Price and the team at Honest Abe Log Homes were wonderful to work with. They were all helpful in all aspects of the build. If we ever did it again I would go with Honest Abe! They know their log homes! Thanks Honest Abe…
