Bear’s Den Honored as 2017 Dealer of the Year
Bear’s Den Log Homes was recognized as 2017 Dealer of the Year during the recent Honest Abe Log Homes 2018 National Dealer Conference. Owned by Rodger and Darlene Dawson, who have been dealers since 2006, Bear’s Den Log Homes also earned honors as the Top Performing Dealership in 2010 and 2014.
“After researching many log home companies and attending many log home shows and events while choosing a manufacturer for our own log home, one particular manufacturer had seemed to make its way to the top of the list – Honest Abe Log Homes,” Darlene said, explaining how she and Rodger combined their expertise in the building and finance industries to form Bear’s Den. “We decided to become dealers ourselves and help others fulfill the dream of log home ownership.”
“Independent dealerships like Bear’s Den Log Homes play an integral role in the stability and success of Honest Abe,” said David Everitt, Dealer Manager for Honest Abe Log Homes for the 39-year-old, family-owned company.
Everitt explained that each of Honest Abe’s independent dealers is assigned a geographic region of the United States for which they are granted exclusive marketing rights. He said that the Dawsons, whose dealership is located in Newton. N.C., in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, go beyond merely selling log home packages.
“They provide guidance and support throughout the process of designing and building the log or timber home that the homeowner has only visualized,” Everitt said. “They develop real relationships with their clients, and that trust is particularly important considering the fact often the new homeowners are building a second home or retirement home and are located hundreds of miles away during the construction process.”
Everitt praised the Dawsons for their efforts to educate and inform about log and timber frame homes through newsletters, printed materials, use of social media and a robust website. The Dawsons are being treated to a trip to Cozumel as a reward for their achievement.
The Dawsons joined other Honest Abe dealers from across the country who traveled to Cookeville, Tennessee, on Jan. 25-26 for product updates, sales training and achievement recognition. Then on Jan. 27 the Independent Dealers visited Honest Abe’s National Headquarters and manufacturing facility in Moss, Tennessee, for a Log Raising and Mill Tour open to the public during which members of the Honest Abe team constructed a small log structure, demonstrating and describing the building process. The conference finale was a tour of the home of April and Nick Patterson, co-owners of Honest Abe, whose new home is the first to be constructed of Honest Abe’s 10” Round Log, a new offering introduced in 2017.
