The Franklin Cottage
It seems lately that Honest Abe is getting a lot of requests for small log cabins – a cabin for escape and fun now and perhaps retiring to later.
The Franklin floor plan is the idea design for that. At 1,340 square feet, it is roomy enough for entertaining friends and family and cozy enough for solitude.
Entering from the front’s covered porch, the living room has a ceiling two floors tall.
A staircase lands in a sleeping loft with ample room for two full beds or four twin beds or bunk beds.
Knee wall closets offer a surprising amount of closet storage, while some homeowners opt to add built-in chests of drawers.
Underneath the loft on the first floor is guest bedroom with an adjacent full bath that also serves the living space.
The kitchen has optional island seating There’s room for appliances and a stackable washer and dryer. To the rear of the kitchen is a large master suite with a full bath, walk-in closet and a private entrance.
A screened-in porch is accessible from the kitchen. The exterior has a cottage-like feel with its windowed front gable and a right-side dormer.
Like all Honest Abe floor plans, the Franklin can be built as a log, timber frame or hybrid home.
