Fall Home Tour Has Much to See
A variety of log and timber frame homes will be open to the public on Aug. 24 during a fall tour hosted by Honest Abe Log Homes Cookeville.
“We believe the structures on the tour are perfect to show visitors how flexible and beautiful a wood home can be,” said Greg Watson, a sales representative at Honest Abe Cookeville who’s spent almost a quarter century with the company. “The customer homes showcased include three finished and furnished log homes and one timber frame that is almost complete.”
Each of the featured homes was designed and manufactured by Honest Abe Log Homes and reflect a variety of log styles. The homeowners will be available to answer questions about their design choices, the construction process, the home’s energy efficiency and more.
“These homes were built at different times, so they really demonstrate how well a log home can hold up over the decades,” Watson said, adding that each building has a distinctively different floor plan.
The day begins 9 a.m. with refreshments and a tour of two log home models at Honest Abe Log Homes Cookeville, located on U.S. Highway 111 North off of Interstate 40 in Cookeville, Tennessee. Additionally, visitors may also tour Honest Abe’s first model log home and a separate, newer log tiny home that have been restored and adapted for reuse as retail space on the Honest Abe Cookeville site.
“We’ll provide a map for the self-guided tour of customers’ homes that will be open between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.,” Greg Watson said. “Since the tour stops are within easy driving distance of one another and our model, there will be ample time to tour each home.”
